HP vs. Dell. Which do you prefer?
According to IDC, HP has held the top spot in the server market for the past 4.5 years, followed by Dell.
Users have their reasons for choosing servers. Some prefer Dell because they are pre-assembled and ready to use (ideally) when they arrive at your data center. They are also less expensive than the competition in most cases.
HP has a reputation for quality hardware, and good tech support.
I’d like to know which you prefer and why.

HP is better - Dell’s DRAC is crap and not even close to HP. Dell is cheaper, but you will pay more on later down the road on support costs.

I have to go with HP for servers as well. You need to look beyond just the box itself. Yes HP has great hardware and it is very reliable but take a look under the hood. HP spends millions in research and development for data center requirements. The ILO, HP SIM, Update management/distribution and so on is superior.
I have worked with HP servers for years and I have yet to have a bad experience with HP support. When there is a problem they are there and always meet SLAs defined in maitenance contracts/care packs.
With the remote monitoring tools they use they will often show up onsite to repair a potential problem with a blade or SAN system before you even know it is a problem - that is service!
My current employer has Dell servers deployed and while they do the job they just don’t cut it for a real data center. Dell notebooks on the other hand are excellent business tools.

I prefere HP to Dell. I have owned 2 HP laptops, they worked with no prolems. When my family bought a dell computer, it seemed to have alot of software. Most of which was uninstalled. With HP, it had less unimportant software. It did have some such as trials.
